What usually matters

Employer-provided cover depends on employment. IA highlights loss of employer cover when a spouse stops working as a change in a young household’s protection position. IA: young adulthood

Pure term life normally has no cash value at expiry, and renewal premiums can rise with age; a low initial premium does not establish future cost. IA: life insurance types and cash values

Questions to take to the broker

Ask what remains after leaving a job, how premiums change at renewal and what happens if regular payments stop.
